Executive Leadership Recognized at Annual Conference
WASHINGTON — Alan Fisco, president and chief executive officer of The Seattle Times, was named the recipient of the Frank W. Mayborn Leadership Award during the annual Senior Leadership Conference hosted by America's Newspapers.
The award was presented by Pat Dorsey, chair of America's Newspapers and publisher of The Santa Fe New Mexican, honoring Fisco's long-standing service to local press institutions and his strategic guidance across the wider news publishing sector.
Advancing Local Press and Philanthropic Models
During the presentation, industry leaders highlighted Fisco's efforts to establish sustainable business strategies for regional news organizations. Under his direction, The Seattle Times developed philanthropically supported journalism initiatives designed to sustain local coverage in key public-interest areas.
In addition to his executive role in Seattle, Fisco has served in leadership capacities across national media associations, including tenure as head of America's Newspapers and the America's Newspapers Foundation. In these roles, he participated in legislative advocacy campaigns focused on industry preservation and legislative policy supporting local press operations.
"Alan embodies the legacy of Frank Mayborn and what this leadership award is all about," Dorsey stated during the presentation ceremony. "He leads locally with The Seattle Times to ensure his community is best served by its local newspaper, including setting a groundbreaking path with philanthropically funded journalism."

The Frank W. Mayborn Leadership Award is named in memory of Texas newspaper publisher Frank W. Mayborn, who contributed to industry association governance throughout the mid-20th century. The annual honor recognizes executives who demonstrate community leadership, operational vision, and sustained service to the newspaper industry.
